Thomas Burke

Thomas F. Burke, M.D., an attending physician at the Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine, graduated from Albany Medical College. Next, he completed his residency in emergency medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center Fort Lewis, WA. Dr. Burke is also an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is also the chief of the Division of Global Health and Human Rights in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The Division’s mission remains focused on caring the world’s most vulnerable through education, research, and service. At the Division the aim is to provide a catalytic environment for those who seek engagement, education, or research opportunities in global health while additionally executing world leading initiatives in such areas as fighting malnutrition and improving maternal and fetal care.

Hiren Patel

Hiren Patel, MD, MPH, is the Director of Fellowship and Senior Advisor for the Division of Global Health and Human Rights at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Patel is an American board certified emergency medicine physician that has his Masters in Public Health at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. He completed a Global Health Leadership and Innovation Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School and international emergency medicine development, systems building, as well as relief management and implementation around the globe. This includes emergency medicine pre-hospital systems development and management in multiple impoverished countries as well as numerous other global health and humanitarian initiatives. He is on various Emergency Medicine boards, is a reviewer for two Emergency Medicine journals and has had several publications focusing on emergency care capacity building in low resource settings.

Emilie Powell

Dr. Emilie Powell is an emergency physician who earned her MD and her MBA from Indiana University School of Medicine and Kelley School of Business. She completed her residency training and further research training at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Powell is currently an associate professor in the Northwestern Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Powell spends her time both practicing clinical emergency medicine and as a funded researcher with a focus on improving the delivery of emergency care. She has published numerous articles and presented nationally and internationally. Dr. Powell has served as an Expedition Physician over the past 6 years and enjoys exploring the world.

Stephen DeWinter

Stephen DeWinter brings 14 years of progressive business and leadership experience to BostonMD. From companies such as LogicSource, Urnex Brands, and Proximo spirits (Jose Cuervo). his expertise spans a broad range of industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, retail, travel/hospitality, consumer packaged goods, and transportation. Stephen has worked deeply in supply chain and operational analytics and brings his passion for operational efficiency and excellence to the BostonMD team. Stephen has focused his career on continuous improvement and business transformation. This combination along with BostonMD’s mission to serve those less fortunate allows him to be a prime industry advocate.
